The Regulatory Relations Coordinator serves as a central point of contact for managing regulatory complaints, inquiries, and examinations involving Brown & Brown, its affiliates, and its licensed professionals nationwide. This role coordinates responses to state insurance regulators, partners with internal stakeholders to gather accurate documentation, and ensures timely, compliant, and well-supported regulatory submissions. The position also acts as a subject matter resource on permissible and prohibited practices applicable to insurance brokers, agents, agencies, MGAs, TPAs, underwriters, and other insurance-related professionals.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Assist in developing internal company policies and procedures regarding market conduct requirements imposed by state and federal law.
  • Communicate with investigators, staff members and leadership of regulatory entities to establish and maintain professional relationships as well as to demonstrate the company’s commitment to compliance.
  • Provide support to offices and team members with informational requests from regulators, including monitoring responses by profit centers for timeliness and responsiveness, advising profit centers in preparing appropriate responses, tracking follow-up requests from the regulator, and facilitating the submission of information.
  • Draft summaries to counsel providing information such as the nature of the inquiry, causes of action alleged and preliminary recommendations.
  • Coordinate with offices and Division team members to log and track complaints against Brown & Brown team members or entities, as well as investigative demands, regulatory subpoenas, or other requests for information from state or federal regulators.
  • Provide legal and administrative support for adversarial proceedings with regulators and appeals of adverse regulatory actions.
  • Work with legal team and offices to conduct fact-finding and retrieve relevant information or documents.
  • Contribute to internal reporting and work closely with the litigation and claims team as needed.
  • Work with regulatory and legal team to contribute educational materials, presentations, and knowledge assets for internal company training or marketing of legal team services.
  • Create and maintain a legal knowledge management system to include work-product materials.
  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position.
  • Attend team meetings, conferences and training as needed.
  • All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices and procedures. The position periodically includes supporting other teammates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Paralegal certificate or degree in paralegal studies. (preferred)
  • Insurance licensure or insurance industry experience. (preferred)

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (law, business, finance, risk management, or related field).
  • Five to eight years of experience in insurance regulatory compliance, regulatory complaints, examinations, or audits.
  • Prior experience working with state insurance departments and/or coordinating responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Strong understanding of state insurance regulatory frameworks and broker/agent compliance obligations.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, independently as well as collaboratively, under tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize competing matters.
  • Creative and practical problem solver.
  • Exceptional communications, organization, listening and writing skills.
  • Experience supporting regulatory audits (market conduct exams or targeted reviews) or insurance carrier audits of brokers/agents. (preferred)
  • Experience in a national brokerage, MGA, insurer, or TPA compliance environment. (preferred)
  • Experience coordinating responses across multiple affiliates or jurisdictions. (preferred)
