About the role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Registry Administrator to join our Professional Standards team in Wellington.

In this role, you will support the delivery of key regulatory functions by assisting with applications relating to practising certificates and certificates of character. You will be responsible for reviewing applications, maintaining accurate records, responding to queries from a range of stakeholders, and providing administrative support to the Registry team.

This is a varied role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Our ideal applicant will have:

  • Strong administrative experience, ideally in a regulatory or professional services environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and working with databases
  • A customer-focused approach with the ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • The ability to adapt to changing workloads and support others when required

With 13 branches throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.

As regulator of the legal profession, the Law Society’s powers are set out in the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, and associated regulations.

We regulate the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand to ensure the protection of those who access legal services and maintain public confidence in the provision of legal services.

Our functions include regulating the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand as well as assisting and promoting the reform of the law for the purpose of upholding the rule of law and the administration of justice.

The Law Society also represents and provides services to those lawyers who choose to be members.
