Job Description

Across Canada, VetStrategy is a network of veterinary practices united by a shared purpose: healthy animals, happy owners.

We bring this to life through three promises:

  • Our People Promise – To be a great place to work.
  • Our Customer Promise – To deliver world-class veterinary care, locally.
  • Our Sustainability Promise – To be a force for good.

Guided by our values—We Care, We Dare, We Share—we prioritize well-being, embrace challenges, and foster collaboration. Rooted in passion and compassion, we support our people, patients, their families, and our communities. Humble and approachable, we achieve more together.

Our commitment to you:

At Clayton Park Veterinary Hospital, we're proud to offer a workplace that feels more like family than a clinic. Our team is close-knit, supportive, and genuinely enjoys spending time together both inside and outside of work. From monthly lunch & learns and book club discussions to team outings and celebrations, we've built a culture where people feel connected, valued, and excited to come to work each day.

We're looking for an RVT who wants to be an integral part of a collaborative hospital team, someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced general practice environment, and is confident taking ownership of their role while working alongside a supportive veterinary team.

What's in it for You?

  • Flexible scheduling options that support a healthy work-life balance
  • Opportunity to utilize your RVT skills to their fullest potential, including surgical support and anesthesia monitoring
  • Monthly protected lunch & learns with the entire medical team, including our veterinarians
  • A welcoming, close-knit team with exceptional staff retention and a genuinely positive workplace culture

As part of our network, you will receive competitive compensation, generous CE allowance, registration dues paid, paid vacation, generous personal pet policy, great health benefits and access to our extensive network of veterinary professionals!

We Are Unique!

At Clayton Park Veterinary Hospital, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Our experienced team supports one another through busy days, celebrates successes together, and works collectively to provide exceptional care for our patients and clients.

You'll work alongside Dr. Pam MacKay, who brings more than 30 years of veterinary experience and performs a variety of surgical and dental procedures, as well as Dr. Nicholas Johnston, who enjoys building strong client relationships while continuing to grow his clinical skills.

We're seeking an RVT who can confidently step into a key role within our hospital by working closely with our existing RVT, helping manage caseload demands, supporting surgeries, and contributing independently to daily patient care.

What truly sets us apart is our atmosphere. Clients often describe our hospital as warm, familiar, and welcoming. From the patient chalkboard that greets visitors each day to the long-standing relationships we've built with families and their pets, our clinic has a comfortable, home-like feel that makes people want to stay. It's a place where team members know each other well, support one another genuinely, and often become close friends outside the workplace.

Located in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia, you'll enjoy an incredible lifestyle that combines coastal beauty with city convenience. Walk the waterfront before work, explore nearby trails on your days off, and enjoy the vibrant restaurants, live music, festivals, and culture that make Halifax one of Atlantic Canada's most desirable places to live.

What You Bring

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (or eligible for registration in Nova Scotia)
  • Confidence supporting and monitoring surgical procedures and anesthesia cases
  • Ability to assist with surgical preparation, scrub into procedures, and support veterinarians throughout the surgical process
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to work independently when required
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to contribute wherever needed

About VetStrategy

Being part of VetStrategy is about being part of something bigger – an ever-growing community, where we connect person-to-person and skill-to-need, united by a common purpose of healthy animals, happy owners. From our humble beginning in 2006 to the present day, we continue to make a difference in the lives of people who have dedicated themselves to this industry.

When VetStrategy co-founders Orin Litman and his wife, Dr. Michelle Cutler, decided to acquire McLean Animal Hospital in 2006, they focused on three promises – our Customer Promise of world-class veterinary care, delivered locally; our People Promise, to be a great place to work; and our Sustainability Promise to be a force for good for patients, people and our plant.

Keeping our three promises led VetStrategy to become the leading veterinary network in Canada, with veterinary practices, 24-hour emergency care, and specialty hospitals coast-to-coast. We have developed and refined a model for supporting our practices across the country.

What we do:

We care for those dedicated to caring for animals by creating a workplace where we focus on innovation, engagement, and teamwork.

We know the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into building each practice, and we don’t want to touch that – we truly embrace the uniqueness of each clinic. Our heritage first approach means we won’t change a clinic’s name, culture or heritage.

We understand the challenges our veterinary teams face and are committed to doing what’s right – for them, their clients, and their patients.

We care about the future of veterinary medicine. Everything we do comes back to ensuring that veterinarians have the time, support, and infrastructure to focus on responsible medicine and quality care.

We believe in empowering our support office and clinic staff and providing them opportunities to develop their skills and grow in their careers.
