We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with:
Current RVT certification (or equivalent training and eligibility for certification)
Minimum one year of RVT experience (emergency experience preferred)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
This is a full-time swing shift position (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), four to five days per week, with some scheduling flexibility.Required Skills & CompetenciesThe ideal candidate is confident, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced emergency environment.Clinical & Technical Skills
IV catheter placement in emergent patients
Venipuncture from accessible vessels
Ability to calculate: drug dose, IV fluid rates, CRIs, and fluid additives
Anesthesia induction, intubation, and monitoring (if RVT certified)
Radiology proficiency
Triage and prioritization of emergent vs. non-emergent cases
Recognition of critical patients requiring immediate intervention
CPR preparation and intervention
Rapid setup for procedures including:
Anesthesia induction
Feline urethral obstruction
CPR
Immediate emergency response support (oxygen support, monitoring setup, ultrasound preparation)
In-house patient care management
Sampling catheter placement (a plus — we will train if needed)
Professional Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to manage workflow during shift
Strong leadership and decision-making skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional animal handling skills, including fractious or fearful patients
Ability to read and assess animal body language
Ability to anticipate doctor and team needs
Strong multitasking ability in high-pressure situations
Physical RequirementsThis is a physically demanding emergency position. Candidates must be able to:
Lift 40 pounds unaided
Assist with patients up to 120 pounds
Frequently stand, walk, run, bend, crouch, reach, push, and pull
