We are looking for an RVN to join our team at Solihull Vets for Pets.
We are currently a 6 and a half vet practice that are supported by 9 RVN's, 1 SVN's and 1 VCA as well as 6 Client Care Advisors. We are a dynamic practice with an internal medicine and diagnostic imaging certificate holder, a surgery certificate holder, and another vet with a Masters in anaesthesia and analgesia. Therefore, we aim to offer a very high standard of care for our patients across a wide range of cases and species. We have all the facilities to support this with laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, ultrasonography, dental x-ray, doppler BP monitoring, capnography, pulse oximetry, acupuncture and k-laser. We perform a full range of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries including TPLO’s and BOAS surgeries, work up a lot of internal medicine cases and handle difficult anaesthetics. We see a lot of rabbit cases compared to most practices. We are aiming for zero pain qualification and as part of this we use local anaesthetic in almost all of our procedures.
Our nursing team are all involved in these cases and so there are significant opportunities to scrub into theatre, do complex anaesthetics and help with medical investigations and inpatient care, along with a range of nurse clinic appointments. We are also happy to support all staff members with opportunities for further development once qualified.
This role is full time of 37.5 hours per week, with no on call, and 1 in 9 weekends (8.30am-6pm Saturday and 9:30am-4pm Sunday).
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Person Specification

You will not necessarily need to have experience with the broad range of cases seen in the practice but would need to be a fast learner who is keen to get involved in all parts of the job. We support any team members who are interested in developing their skills with CPD and further qualifications. An interest in Clinical Coaching/ Supervising and supporting our student nurses would be advantageous (training not essential and will be provided if interested in the future).
