Rota: 4-day working week, 42 hours per week, 1:6 weekends
At Village Vet Hampstead, our Day Registered Veterinary Nurses play a vital role within our Emergency and Critical Care service. You’ll be an integral part of the ECC team, supporting critical and urgent patients while rotating through surgery, consultations, and nurse-led Schedule 3 procedures — all within a hospital that values high clinical standards, teamwork, and nurse development.
Be a core member of the Emergency and Critical Care team, supporting complex and urgent cases during the day
Rotate through surgery, nurse consultations, and nurse-led Schedule 3 procedures
Work closely with the Lead Nurse and clinicians to deliver gold-standard care to critical patients
Supported by a cohesive multidisciplinary team of nurses, students, patient care assistants, and a dedicated night team
Work in a 24-hour hospital handling a varied caseload including internal and external referrals
Be part of an accredited Dog Friendly clinic (Dogs Trust & BVBA) and ISFM Gold Cat Friendly hospital, supporting a patient-centred approach to care
Tier 2 or Tier 3 Registered Veterinary Nurse, aligned with the Linnaeus Nurse Career Framework
Passion for emergency, critical care, and inpatient nursing
Confidence working as part of a busy hospital nursing team
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
A nurse who is motivated to develop clinically and support the wider team
Village Vet Hampstead is a well-established 24-hour veterinary hospital based in Belsize Park, North London, a short walk from Belsize Park Tube and local amenities. The hospital is equipped across four floors with full diagnostic facilities, an on-site laboratory, a dedicated ICU, separate cat and dog wards, and a full theatre suite.

You’ll work alongside experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses, patient care assistants, students, and clinicians, including certificate holders. There is strong collaboration between day and night teams, ensuring continuity of care and structured handovers in a dynamic but well-supported environment.

You will be a key part of the nursing team, supporting the Lead Nurse and clinicians in the care of critical patients. Responsibilities include:
Delivering high clinical standards in ECC, surgery, and consultations
Supporting training and development within the nursing team
Ensuring effective management of equipment and clinical resources
Contributing to a positive, efficient, and supportive working environment
Working in line with current legislation, clinical governance, and practice policies
4-day working week
