Priory Hospital Dewsbury is looking to recruit a Newly Qualified Nurse to join the team.This is a full time role of 40 hours per week.
Based in the residential area of Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides level 2 rehabilitation services divided into two wards. Care is for male patients who have mental health disorders and increasing physical health needs. We also offer neuropsychiatry support, support for older people and dementia, community-focused rehabilitation, and support for severe and enduring mental health.
Although Dewsbury is not a 24/7 acute hospital, we are well-placed to provide support to acute patients within our dementia services, for those who require an alternative setting to an acute psychiatric ward. Admissions can also take place due to other placement breakdowns (either from their home or other care environment), or step-downs from prison settings.

You’ll start in the role of Healthcare Assistant, giving you the opportunity to get to know our residents, team, and routines while completing your induction and on-site training. This hands-on experience will help you build confidence, develop key skills, and understand our standards of care before stepping into your registered nurse role.
As soon as your NMC PIN is confirmed, you’ll move seamlessly into our Preceptorship Nurse Programme. You’ll be fully supported by experienced mentors, receive tailored development plans, and have the time and guidance you need to thrive in your first registered role.
This is the perfect way to bridge the gap between qualifying and practising, ensuring you feel prepared, valued, and ready to deliver the best possible care.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role
- Newly Qualified Registered Nurse with an active NMC registration.
- Strong understanding of the NMC Code and professional standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- IT literate with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
The following experience would be beneficial
- Completion of a preceptorship or willingness to undertake one
- Experience gained through nursing placements within mental health or healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, medicines management and risk assessment.
- Confidence in care planning, record keeping and patient assessment.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex mental and physical health needs.
