Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: White Plains, New York
Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift | 6:30 PM–6:45 AM
Hours: 75 hours per pay period
Pay Range: $49.76–$62.88 per hour

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join its Respiratory Therapy team on the night shift.

The Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care to both inpatient and outpatient populations, including mechanical ventilation, airway management, respiratory treatments, blood gas analysis, bronchial hygiene, and emergency response.

This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate respiratory care plans
  • Initiate, manage, and monitor invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Administer prescribed breathing treatments and respiratory therapies
  • Perform respiratory assessments and evaluate patient response to treatment
  • Perform postural drainage, percussion, and other bronchial hygiene techniques
  • Conduct bedside pulmonary function testing
  • Perform arterial blood gas punctures and blood gas analysis
  • Complete quality-control procedures and operator maintenance on blood gas analyzers
  • Respond to cardiac arrests and Rapid Response events
  • Perform CPR and assist with emergency airway management
  • Perform emergency endotracheal intubation of adult patients after completing required competency validation
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Monitor changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Operate respiratory therapy equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow established infection-control, patient-safety, and departmental standards
  • Perform additional respiratory therapy responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license upon hire
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Strong respiratory assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Ability to perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis
  • Ability to respond appropriately during cardiac arrest, Rapid Response, and other emergency situations
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergency alarms and clinical signals
  • Ability to operate computers, respiratory equipment, and other clinical devices
  • Ability to transport and lift medical gas cylinders as required

Preferred

  • Previous acute-care hospital Respiratory Therapy experience
  • Critical care or emergency department experience
  • Experience managing mechanically ventilated patients
  • Experience with emergency airway management and intubation assistance
  • Previous night-shift Respiratory Therapy experience
