Registered Respiratory Therapist - PRN
The Registered Respiratory Therapists perform evaluations and in accordance with physician orders/protocols, administers respiratory care treatments. The RRT provides education to patients with cardiopulmonary disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases.
Responsibilities
Assembles, checks for proper function, identifies malfunctions of equipment, and takes action to correct malfunctions of equipment., Collects and evaluates additional pertinent clinical information by assessing patient’s overall cardiopulmonary status., Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate spontaneous and artificial ventilation., Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve maintenance of patient airway, including the care of artificial airways and to achieve removal of bronchial pulmonary secretions., Determines the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory care plan, recommends modifications where indicated, and participates in development of respiratory care plan., Evaluates and monitors patient’s response to respiratory care., Explains care plan, therapy, and goals to patient, maintaining records of communication., Initiates, conducts, or modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting., Makes necessary modifications in therapeutic procedures and recommends respiratory care plan modifications based on patient response., Performs procedures as listed in general and critical care competency checklist and interprets results., Protects patient from nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control policies and procedures., Provides care within established scope of practice for Respiratory Therapists at SBL., Registered Respiratory Therapists with at least 2 years of critical care experience can perform adult endotracheal intubation in a code blue setting after completion of intubation training and competency., Reviews data in patient record and recommends diagnostic procedures bases on all available patient information., Selects and obtains equipment and assures cleanliness of equipment appropriate to the respiratory care plan., Serves as a resource to others regarding complicated respiratory care cases or procedures. Provides in-service education to department.
