Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Medical Specialty Suites Manager, in collaboration with the pulmonary division, you will perform routine Pulmonary Function and Exercise studies, as well as, more advanced studies such as REE studies, and Cardiopulmonary Exercise tests.Other functions include:

  • Overseeing or assisting quality control procedures, preventative maintenance and personnel training.
  • Establishment of new testing procedures
  • Assisting in direction and coordination of shift activities
  • Developing and monitoring specific research protocols.
  • Training other staff and monitoring quality assurance activity as assigned.
  • May be required to work in any area of the Health System
  • May require rotating shifts day/night, weekends.

Salary Range: $48.53-$64.03/hr


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • RCP CA State License
  • ·Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) (American Red Cross or American Heart Association only)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Certification (RRT)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS)-
  • Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Ability to use the following equipment: Blood Gas Analyzers, Co-Oximeters, Pulse Oximeters, Pulmonary Function Testing Equipment, Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Equipment, EKG Machine, PC, PAP devices, Scan, ICAP, Fax, CPAP masks. Ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a large group setting; help monitor QA for spirometry and pap management with other staff. Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet conflicting deadlines. Ability to deal with difficult situations with equanimity.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with staff and others to provide directions, and other information. Knowledge of general medical terminology
  • Knowledge, ability, and communication skills to conduct research interviews, including the collection of confidential medical and respiratory health histories. Experience in data cleaning, data checking, and data management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and patient information. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary for maintaining study integrity and credibility with physicians, office staff, medical staff, and patients
  • Ability to work independently under multiple deadlines, follow instructions, work cooperatively with other staff members and be flexible to work on multiple projects. Knowledge and ability to perform proper mask fit tests, spirometry, sputum induction, and methacoline inhalation challenge tests
  • Knowledge of standard lab equipment used in pulmonary function lab, and pap management including emergency rescue equipment. Knowledge and ability to maintain equipment, calibrate and assure quality control
  • General knowledge of the use of personal computers and communication software
  • Experience and competence adjusting CPAP settings with an MD order
  • Experience and competence educating patients on appropriate use, cleaning, replacement schedule, and care of CPAP unit and accessorie
