Part Time

The Registered Radiologist Assistant (H) enhances patient care and improves workflow efficiency by performing advanced patient assessment, managing patient care, and executing selected imaging procedures under the supervision of a radiologist.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Radiology.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registered Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.).

Work Experience: Minimum 6 months in Diagnostic Fluoroscopy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to assist in accurate imaging and ensure proper positioning for optimal results. In-depth understanding of various imaging modalities (e.g., X-radiation, Computed Tomography scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, fluoroscopy) and their applications in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Proficiency in maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, documenting procedures, and ensuring compliance with healthcare documentation standards. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Sound ability to maintain professional and courteous and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. Ability to handle imaging equipment and assist in procedures that require precision and steady hands, such as catheter placements or biopsies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Works in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care, providing them with relevant imaging results and observations. Adheres to institutional and regulatory safety and privacy standards, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), infection control protocols, and radiation safety guidelines. Conducts patient histories, performing physical assessments, and managing care before, during, and after procedures. Performs or assists with imaging procedures, such as contrast administration, lumbar punctures, and placing abscess catheters or nephrostomy tubes under the supervision of a radiologist. Evaluates image quality, checking for anatomical coverage, and identifying variances that may influence the outcome. Provides preliminary observations of images to the supervising radiologist to expedite care, but they do not provide official interpretations (diagnoses). Educates patients, obtaining informed consent, and adhering to safety protocols. Administers contrast media or medications, including minimal and moderate sedation, as prescribed

Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
