  • Base salary range: $104,243 – $115,661 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Directorate of Student Life and Community sits within the Education Portfolio, overseen by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience). Student Life and Community plays an integral role in the shared strategic goal of providing a world-class student experience.

The Directorate has five core divisions, Student Engagement and Belonging, Student Conduct and Resolution Centre, UWA Sport, Student Equity and Accessibility, and Student Health and Wellbeing. The scope of services centre on the student journey, from the provision of student programs and activities that support and promote access to UWA, to student enrolment, course planning, transition, and progression through the lifecycle of study to graduation. The Directorate is also responsible for the delivery of services that promote academic success and support wellbeing and engagement for an enhanced student experience. Student Life works closely with the Student Guild, affiliated residential colleges and the wider UWA Education portfolio.

The division of Student Health and Wellbeing facilitates a high-quality student experience through the provision of integrated and comprehensive services. The division is responsible for the delivery of the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework and the UWA Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Communities Framework. Student Health and Wellbeing has five broad areas - tertiary prevention through Complex Case Support; The Living Room, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (including the Psychology Team); Medical Centre; and prevention programs and training.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, counselling and interventions to support student mental health and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Student Health and Wellbeing team to provide integrated, student-centred care.
  • Contribute to a proactive, university-wide approach to mental health aligned with UWA’s Wellbeing and Student Experience frameworks.

About you

  • Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and substantial experience delivering counselling and psychological services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, safety planning, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage caseloads, maintain accurate clinical records and meet service timelines.
  • Collaborative practitioner who works effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contributes to continuous service improvement.
