About the Role

Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Unit

This program serves adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions requiring intensive support. The focus is on recovery, helping clients reintegrate into the community safely and independently. Referrals from healthcare providers are required

Qualifications

• Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
• Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
• CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
• Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding
• Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients
• Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team
• Basic computer skills required

Preferred:

• Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
