Cleveland Clinic’s Sleep Disorders Center is amultispecialty, comprehensive program dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children and adults. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the center iscomprisedof specialists in neurology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, psychiatry,psychologyand otolaryngology.
The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)is responsible forconducting overnight sleep studies toassistinthe diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. This role involves preparing patients for testing, applyingmonitoring equipment, educating patientsonthe sleep study process, andmonitoringphysiological data throughout the night.
A caregiver in this position works nights| 8:00pm—6:00am| Sunday and Monday, optionalThursdayand Friday| no weekends or holidays (outside ofSunday).
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Preparepatientand equipment for ordered testing.
Interviewpatienttodeterminesleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
Perform anddocumenttesting.
Monitorpatientthroughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
Instruct non-registered andtrainees. Scores,interpretsand reports results of sleep studies.
Prepare, calibrate,repairandmaintainequipmentrequiredfor testing.Determinesand reports needed repairs/replacements. Performs QA.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
* Must be a Registered Polysomnography Technologist, under the BRPT guidelines
