About the role

A great opportunity exists for a dedicated, enthusiastic Midwife to join our team in Rockhampton. The position would incorporate the holistic care of women in birthing services, ante/postanal inpatient ward and our special care nursery from 32 weeks gestation. We also encompass gynaecology and Peadiatric surgical patients. We are looking to fill these positions on a permanent part time,full time and casual basis.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour, plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You will provide safe, high-quality care across multiple areas within Mater Hospital, supporting a range of clinical needs. Your flexibility and experience will allow you to adapt across different wards and be a valued member of our team.

  • Determine and monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout the period of hospitalisation and communicate effectively with other health professionals to ensure safe and high standards of care.
  • Provide high quality patient care applying nursing and/or midwifery clinical skills and contemporary knowledge to support optimal care outcomes through care coordination, collaboration and communication within scope of professional competence
  • Act as a mentor for colleagues and nursing/midwifery students within the team where appropriate dependant on own level of expertise permits.
  • Undertake comprehensive discharge planning to ensure patients and their support persons, where applicable and appropriate, are provided with adequate support through the provision of education, resources and appropriate community services acces

About you

  • Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Midwife, Nurse;
  • Currency of neonatal resuscitation;
  • Currency of K2 Perinatal Training through an approved provider.
  • Minimum of one year post graduate experience, includes in birth suites (not applicable to graduate or junior midwives engaged in a structured and supported capacity).
  • Other postgraduate qualifications in relevant nursing and/or midwifery speciality or working towards (e.g. lactation consultant);
  • Ability to work as a team member within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Candidates must participate in a 24/7 rotating roster.
