There is no moment more vital than an infant’s first few weeks. At St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba, our Level 4 Special Care Nursery is where clinical precision meets heart. We aren't just looking for an RN; we are looking for a dedicated advocate.

About the role:

Come and join the collaborative team at the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit on a permanent part-time basis

Our Unit is a centre of excellence, featuring four modern birth suites and Toowoomba's only private 8-bed fully equipped Level 4 Special Care Nursery with specially trained health professionals and equipment. We provide advanced care, including CPAP and stabilisation for newborns from 32 weeks. Our unit is run by a team of experienced midwives, lactation consultants and nursing staff. Birthing is serviced by private obstetric specialists and paediatricians.

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba is the largest acute private hospital on the Darling Downs. We are a 197-bed facility with highly experienced and skilled staff that work as a team to deliver the highest standard of healthcare to all our patients. Our services include medical, surgical, maternity, paediatric, emergency, cardiac and rehabilitation. We are supported by comprehensive allied health services and advanced medical and diagnostic services. Pathology, radiology and pharmacy are also available on site, and our emergency department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Things that work for us:

  • Registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) as a Registered Nurse

  • Prior Special Care Nursery experience is essential

  • Effective communication skills at all levels enabling you to achieve best practice

  • Recent experience in the speciality area you are interested in applying for, and appropriate qualifications and registration.

  • You will understand the importance of providing quality care, and you feel rewarded by creating a genuine impact

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills that provide the support and nurture for our patients and organisation’s needs.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
