Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $90,000 – $95,000 / year (Based on experience)

Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)

We are seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to lead our clinical team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between clinical excellence and administrative leadership. You will oversee the daily operations of your assigned unit, supervise and mentor nursing staff, manage patient/resident care plans, and ensure total compliance with federal and state regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has strong leadership instincts, exceptional communication skills, and a clinical background in [Long-Term Care / Rehab / Acute Care].

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the assigned unit to ensure high-quality patient/resident care.

  • Direct the implementation of clinical initiatives, coordinate admission/discharge assessments, and audit patient care plans regularly.

  • Make daily unit rounds to evaluate the care needs of patients and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.

  • Act as the primary clinical liaison between patients/residents, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and family members.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of staff nurses (RNs, LPNs) and nursing assistants (CNAs).

  • Coordinate monthly staffing schedules to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios and minimize agency/overtime dependency.

  • Participate in onboarding, training, and competency evaluations for new and existing clinical staff.

  • Address staff grievances and deliver constructive counseling or disciplinary action when necessary to maintain high morale and compliance.

Administrative & Compliance Management

  • Ensure the unit operates in strict compliance with CMS, state, and federal healthcare regulations, as well as company policies.

  • Participate in quality improvement (QI) initiatives, auditing electronic medical records (EMR) for accuracy and completeness.

  • Manage and assist with budget control, supply distribution, and resource allocation for the unit.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required by the facility.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).

  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [State].

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical bedside experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership capacity (e.g., Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Unit Manager) preferred.

  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.

  • Skills: Proficient in using EMR systems. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills under high-pressure scenarios.
