BHCOR-Outpatient RecoverICorbin, KY

The Outpatient Recovery Unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions performed on an outpatient basis. Working closely with the Pre-Operative (Pre-Op) Surgery Unit, the team ensures patients safely recover from anesthesia and procedures while receiving individualized care, monitoring, education, and discharge support.

The Preop/Discharge RN provides care for preoperative and Phase II postoperative patients, performing assessments,developingand implementing individualized plans of care, and delivering patient and family education. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working in both the preoperative and discharge areas. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care,maintainaccuratedocumentation,supportsquality improvement initiatives, and upholds departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care throughout the perioperative process.

  • Prepare patients for surgery by verifying required documentation, informed consent, and readiness for the scheduled procedure.

  • Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and document interventions and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered care.

  • Provide patient and family education, discharge planning, and post-procedure instructions.

  • Maintain a safe, organized environment by managing supplies, equipment, and regulatory compliance whileparticipatingin quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school required;Bachelor'sdegree preferred.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kentuckyrequired

  • One year of RN experiencerequired; PACU, Critical Care/ER, and Preop/Discharge experience preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)requiredwithin30 daysof hire.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)requiredwithin90 daysof hire.

  • Glucometer, Aegis, and Nurse Wound Care trainingrequiredper department and organizational guidelines.
