The RN, Patient Logistics will evaluate all EC admission requests and requests for ICCU for appropriateness of level of care.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Function as clinical advisor for the Regional Transfer Center and Patient Placement Center
• Reviews charts for pre-authorizations for surgical procedures, chemo, or other procedures
• Responsible for assessing EC bed requests for observation after hours and weekends and EC inpatient bed requests for appropriate bed placements
• Document changes in level of care in the EC Teletracking log and all accepted Regional Transfers in INET
• Provides back up for Regional Transfer Center calls when assistance is needed
• Regional reporting through EMResource system as required by Patient Placement Director
• Place PSO in medical record for all incoming direct admit regional transfers
• All other related assigned duties

Education and Experience
• BSN: Bachelor Science Nursing Degree
• + 4 years nursing practice

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Current RN license from Texas State Board of Nursing or holds a recognized compact state licensure
• BLS- Basic Life Skills certification from American Heart Association

Skills and Abilities
• Working knowledge of bed priority and levels of care
• Working knowledge of Teletracking system
• Ability to extend and maintain tact, patience, discretion and confidentiality when working with patients

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This role will interact closely with nursing unit, medical staff, patients, and other hospital departments

Physical Capabilities
Work consists of sitting for prolonged periods. Talking and hearing is essential. Near visual acuity required to read charts and records.

Environmental/Working Conditions
The work environment is in a well-lighted and temperature controlled environment. Work is performed in a low-risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards.
