Position Overview: We are looking for a highly organized, proactive Registered Nurse to coordinate patient care across heart and breast procedures, IV therapy, patient follow-up, and our CT Lung Screening program. Shift: Monday-Friday from 7:00a-3:30p.

Pre-Employment Requirements: We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Job Requirements:

• Current Alabama Registered Nursing License.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card (By the completion of the ninety-day probationary period).

Job Duties:

• Coordinates and provides nursing care for patients undergoing scheduled inpatient and outpatient cardiac and diagnostic procedures, including pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery.
• Reviews patient charts and completes all required clinical and procedural documentation prior to scheduled examinations and procedures.
• Coordinates medications, patient preparation, transportation, scheduling, and workflow to facilitate efficient management of multiple patients undergoing cardiac examinations.
• Remains available and physically present as needed throughout the pre-procedure, procedure, and post-procedure phases of patient care.
• Collaborates with Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and ensure appropriate completion of orders and procedures.
• Coordinates nursing care and recovery of patients receiving morphine in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and established clinical protocols.
• Initiates and maintains IV access for patients as clinically appropriate and within scope of practice.
• Provides nursing assistance during procedures involving Sincalide and other diagnostic medications or agents as required.
• Assists with the safe transport, monitoring, and care of patients receiving blood products in accordance with hospital policies and established procedures.
• Develops, coordinates, and maintains the CT Lung Screening Program to support timely screening, follow-up, documentation, and continuity of care.
• Maintains required CT Lung Screening data and enters applicable information into the National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR) database.
• Develops and maintains tracking tools to monitor patients due for screening, completed examinations, recommended follow-up, and outstanding appointments.
• Collaborates with outside providers and referring offices to facilitate scheduling of annual CT lung screening examinations and required follow-up services.
• Communicates with providers and patients regarding missed appointments, outstanding follow-up examinations, and other barriers to completion of recommended care.
• Performs follow-up telephone calls with Breast Center procedure patients on the day following their procedure and accurately documents follow-up in Sunrise.
• Contacts Breast Center procedure patients prior to scheduled procedures to complete pre-procedure documentation, provide instructions, and review applicable medications.
• Assists with breast ultrasound procedures and related patient care activities to support efficient patient throughput and maximize daily procedure capacity.
• Collaborates with Breast Center staff, radiologists, technologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to promote efficient and coordinated patient care.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation of patient assessments, care provided, medications, procedures, patient responses, and communications.
• Follows hospital policies, procedures, infection prevention standards, medication administration requirements, and applicable nursing standards of practice.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and assists with the development and implementation of processes that improve patient safety, efficiency, and continuity of care.
