Position Purpose
At Saint Francis Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our CV Surgical Cardiology team. This role provides specialized nursing care to adult patients recovering from cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, vascular procedures, and other complex cardiac interventions.
What You Will Do
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for post operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, and overall patient condition.
Identify changes in patient status and intervene appropriately.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Educate patients and families on recovery, medications, lifestyle modifications, and discharge planning.
Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation specialists, and interdisciplinary team members.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
Support quality initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.
Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut.
Certification: BLS (AHA/ARC) required.
Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience (cardiac or critical care preferred)
Preferred Skills
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Experience: cardiac step-down, ICU, or telemetry unit
Certification: ACLS and Stroke Certification preferred.
