GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Pioneer Home is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Registered Nurse (RN). The individual in the position provides nursing services to the residents, assesses health problems and needs, and completes annual and change of Condition Assessments.. The Wyoming Pioneer Home is a licensed assisted living facility in Thermopolis, WY, near Hot Springs State Park, with many activities available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Implements care in accordance with professional standards of the Home.
- Adheres to the WDH Culture Statement.
- Provides professional nursing services to residents and staff in chronic as well as acute care settings.
- Performs annual and change-of-condition assessments and ALF 102 forms.
- Provides continuous care of residents through assessing, evaluating, and implementing processes to ensure appropriate patient care and outcomes.
- Accurately prepares and administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician with proper documentation.
- Triages calls from staff, residents, and medical providers and handles routine concerns and emergencies.
- Communicates with the Physician and follows through on orders as appropriate.
- Review lab values and consult reports.
- Provides formal assessments, documentation, and progress notes.
- Assists with resident ADLs (activities of daily living) as needed..
- Delegates nursing responsibilities to other nursing personnel within the scope of the Wyoming Board of Nursing Practice Act.
- Assists coworkers and other departments as needed.
Examples of duties
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to individuals with nursing experience in long-term care and a current unencumbered Wyoming RN license or those who are eligible for licensure in Wyoming. Graduate nurses are welcome to apply.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of laws, principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing.
- Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records, charts, reports, and observations.
- Knowledge of principles of nursing process and scientific process.
- Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care.
- Knowledge of scientific concepts is a basis for decision-making.
- Knowledge of physical, biological, and behavioral sciences.
- Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards.
- Knowledge of work management and leadership theory, and practice.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to healthcare.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
Qualifications
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to:
- Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
- Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends when the situation requires it.
- Stand for extended periods of time, walk downstairs, bend, stoop and squat.

- A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
- For our residents' health and protection, annual influenza vaccination is required, and annual testing for tuberculosis.
- Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19.
- Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive). Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted in any position if reasonable suspicion exists.

- ** Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions
- New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent positionCurrent state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the publicOne year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus, with the funds deducted from the final pay.Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date. Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
