Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing perioperative service within one of Queensland’s newest hospitals, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Nurse within PACU, you will play a key role in providing safe, high-quality care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgical procedures. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver comprehensive, patient-focused nursing care within the PACU environment
  • Monitor and assess patients during the immediate post-operative recovery phase
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care appropriately
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and evaluate patient care
  • Support a strong culture of safety, quality improvement, and patient advocacy
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, education, and mentoring opportunities
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to Mater policies, procedures, and professional standards

About you

You are a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced perioperative environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous experience within PACU, Recovery, Perioperative or High Acuity Care nursing environments (such as ICU, CCU or Emergency)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred care aligned with Mater’s values
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively in a dynamic clinical setting
  • A proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
