Department: Orthopedic Care Unit
Shift/schedule: Full Time (36 hrs/wk), Night Shift
GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. The RN's primary job function is to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on a nursing unit according to unit policies and procedures. Supports each strategic value by providing excellent care to those we serve. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
Licensure:
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Ohio required
• BLS within 90 days of hire required

• None.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Completes nursing assessment of patients and documents appropriately on patient record.
2. Develops, evaluates and updates the plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
3. Communicates and collaborates with physicians and other health team members in developing a plan of care.
4. Initiates, manages, and participates in discharge planning process.
5. Implements, delegates, and coordinates patient care.
6. Facilitates patient/family teaching as appropriate.
7. Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
8. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
9. Performs total patient care.
10. Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy
11. Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture. This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFU’s
12. Performs other duties as assigned
