The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Join PHC's close knit Nephrology team!6B is the Kidney Medicine and Transplant ward at SPH, specializing in the care of patients with various kidney conditions, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and those undergoing kidney transplants. Nurses on 6B work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care, respond to medical emergencies, and support patients throughout their complex treatment journeys. Given the long-term nature of many kidney conditions, this role requires not only technical expertise but also patience, empathy, and a holistic approach to care, enabling nurses to build strong, therapeutic relationships with patients over time. This is an excellent opportunity for those with recent acute medicine or surgical experience who are eager to expand their knowledge and skills in renal nursing.

What You Bring

Education:

  • You must be a registered nurse in Canada in good standing and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated competence in performing CPR procedures.
  • Experience in teamwork, decision-making and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated a teaching aptitude
  • Proficient in clinical leadership.
  • A strong desire to expand your professional skills and a commitment to lifelong learning in the nursing field.

Your Day to Day:

  • Prepare equipment, monitor patients during dialysis, administer medications, educate patients, provide emotional support, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

  • Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care
  • Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems
  • Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary
  • Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care
  • Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures
  • Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plan.
