Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)
Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Registered Nurse – Y2 Cardiac Specialty Care is responsible for providing continuous, comprehensive, coordinated and patient centered nursing care to all patients to include: providing pre and post care and procedural care and assistance for patients undergoing cardiac specialty procedures including, but not limited to: cardiac catheterization, Electrophysiology studies, device implantation, dobutamine stress echoes, cardioversion, and TEEs. Staff will be responsible for preparing and employing sterile techniques; establishing I.V. routes and administering I.V. bolus and infusions, and contrast media under supervision of the attending physician; monitoring the progress of the patient; assisting in any emergency situations that might arise and initiating life support measures; providing any required technical assistance/support for various electrophysiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including: electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, and temporary and permanent pacemaker or ICD implantation; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum two (2) years recent nursing experience in Cardiology or Cardiac Surgery or Emergency or experience in Cardiac Special Procedures and/or Cardiac Catheterization Lab required.
Previous experience in ICU, EP Lab, Device Implant Lab and/or Pre/Post is considered an asset.
**NOTE** SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of the following course(s) will be required: Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) Program developed by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) if no previous ICU experience or ICU course; and Concepts in Electrophysiology when the opportunity to take the course(s) is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and the employer.
