JOB SUMMARY

Provide patient-centered nursing care, with a focus on specialized assessment and management of patients with Multiple Sclerosis in the ambulatory setting. Administer immunotherapy medications, monitor treatment effects, and provide education and support to patients and families regarding Multiple Sclerosis and symptom management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TASK GROUPS

• Provide specialized nursing assessment and care for patients with Multiple Sclerosis in the ambulatory setting.
• Assess patients’ needs and symptoms, develop and implement individualized nursing interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Administer prescribed immunotherapy medications, monitor therapeutic and adverse effects, and intervene accordingly.
• Educate patients and families about Multiple Sclerosis, its implications, treatment plan, symptom management, and self-care strategies, and assess their understanding.
• Assess patient and family readiness and learning needs and provide appropriate education and support throughout the care journey.
• Coordinate care and collaborate with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support continuity and quality of care.
• Document assessments, interventions, medication administration, patient education, and relevant clinical information in the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities related to patient care and service delivery.

KNOWLEDGE / KNOW-HOW

Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis, its clinical manifestations, treatment modalities, symptom management, immunotherapy medications, and related patient and family education.

Knowledge of and adherence to basic principles of safety procedures in health care settings.

Education:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Nursing Colloquium, Nursing License from the Ministry of Public Health, and Registered in the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.

Experience:

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse at AUBMC, including 2 years of clinical experience in neurology and/or complex chronic disease management.

Languages:

Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET >/= 500).

Computer Skills:

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
