Job Description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med Surg Unit who will embrace our commitment to providing quality care to every patient and family member. This is an 18-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio.   The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to Med/Surg patients. You will have patient contact during immediate pre, intra, and immediate post-operative periods. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This includes administering medications, coordinating patient care activities, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure positive patient outcomes. The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical and communication skills, as well as a strong ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.      As a Med Surg RN you will be responsible for:        
  • Admitting and assessing patients
  • Administering medication and treatments
  • Monitoring vital signs and symptoms
  • Running and ordering tests
  • Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists
  • Charting Patient Progress
         Required Skills & Qualifications:       
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma. Bachelors Degree in Nursing Preferred.
  • Current Licensure or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state. 
  • Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. ACLS, Chemotherapy Competency and CPI are required within 90 days of hire.
