Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. Nurse Manager / Department Manager – MedSurg, Telemetry & IMC

Baystate Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager / Department Manager to lead patient care operations across Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care (IMC) units. This leadership role oversees nursing staff and daily clinical and operational functions while partnering with physicians and nursing leadership to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager ensures compliance with regulatory standards and evidence-based practice while fostering staff engagement, development, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for nursing staff across MedSurg, Telemetry, and IMC units
  • Manage clinical, operational, and administrative functions of assigned departments
  • Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead performance improvement, quality, and patient safety initiatives
  • Support staff orientation, education, competency assessment, and professional development
  • Partner with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Oversee departmental metrics including quality, utilization, productivity, and budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and patient-centered care environment

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Massachusetts required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Prior nursing leadership or management experience preferred
