• Assessment – You’ll deliver comprehensive care by assessing the patient’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs utilizing The Christ Hospital Health Network Professional Practice Model – all while continuing to collaborate with your healthcare team
• Diagnosis & Planning – Working closely with the patient and family, you’ll create personalized care plans that prioritize patient needs and goals.
• Implementation – You’ll be providing evidence-based, best-in-class care by educating patients and families, executing well-planned interventions and utilizing hospital policies and procedures.
• Evaluation – You’ll monitor and adjust care based on patient outcomes and evidence-based practices.
• Leadership & Professional Development - Working closely with your Clinical Manager, you will take an active role in driving improvement and achieving better outcomes through the development and evaluation of Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives. You’ll be an advocate for High Reliability principles to enhance patient care and operational efficiency while using data to fuel progress. • Documentation - You’ll accurately and concisely document the nursing process in the patient’s electronic medical record, reflecting the implemented plan of care by the patient, family, and healthcare team. You’ll also ensure timely documentation of care, updates, education, and the patient’s and family’s responses, in line with hospital policy.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of employment.
• BLS required before patient contact.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas.

CVICU The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 16-bed cardiovascular recovery and intensive care unit. It is a fast-paced environment where state-of-the-art technology, nationally recognized standards of care and critical thinking skills are utilized by the all-RN staff to provide compassionate patient and family-centered care. Staff on this unit are highly proficient in pre-operative and intra-operative support as well as immediate post-operative phases of cardiovascular procedures. This includes open heart surgery, ventricular assist device implantation, and various interventional procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Acute cardiology and heart failure patients also receive care in CVICU, along with overflow medical and surgical intensive care patients. Staff expertly manage all types of invasive lines, medications, hemodynamic needs, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous dialysis and ultrafiltration machines, and various ventricular assist devices. The success of their nursing staff is their number one priority and is supported through their encouraging environment of comradery and mentorship.

MICU The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)/7 West is a 20-bed intensive care unit. This unit provides holistic and compassionate care for patients with numerous diagnoses including pneumonia, GI bleed, respiratory failure, sepsis, heart failure, MI, post-cardiac arrest, acute renal failure, multi-system organ failure and many others. Nurses utilize a variety of equipment including intra-aortic balloon pumps and continuous dialysis machines. The MICU is a closed unit with an intensivist physician serving as the attending for each patient. The Christ Hospital is a teaching facility which allows the staff to work closely with the medical residents in the MICU and provides an opportunity for new nurses to receive specialized training in the Critical Care Nurse Residency Program. The MICU and SICU share primary responsibility for the Rapid Response Team (the STAT Team) and respond to calls throughout the hospital. The MICU RNs strive to utilize technology and evidence-based practice to provide compassionate and efficient care to achieve best possible outcomes for patients.

SICU The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 12-bed unit. This unit serves adult and, occasionally, adolescent patients. Diagnostic categories include neurology, neurosurgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, internal medicine, respiratory disease and OB/Gyn surgery. Many patients are admitted to the SICU directly from the operating room for their initial recovery period, including those undergoing kidney transplants. These patients receive care in the SICU immediately post-op and remain on the unit for the first few days following the transplant. Any patients requiring intraventricular/intracerebral monitoring are cared for in SICU. All SICU nurses become NIH Stroke Scale Certified within their first year on the unit. The SICU vision is to consistently provide exceptional patient and family-focused care with expert knowledge, mutual respect and professionalism in an enthusiastic, nurturing and rewarding environment.
