Registered Nurse – Aged Care Sector| Casual | Workplace: On Site | Casual rate = $47.59 to $54.65 + Super.

About Us

South West Community Care is a not-for-profit Organisation and Registered Charity local to the South West, providing aged care and in-home services to the local community. It is managed by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is supported by a Chief Operations Officer, Chief Organisational Officer and Management Team overseeing operations and supporting a team of over 120 employees and volunteers. The CEO, in conjunction with a volunteer Board of Management, sets the strategic direction for the organisation.

South West Community Care is managed locally and embraces the ‘Wellness’ Approach when delivering care to eligible older Australians in the Community approximately 1000 clients currently, providing services designed to maintain independence dignity and quality of life for our ageing community. These services are delivered by compassionate and caring staff working within the guidelines set out by the Aged Care Charter of Rights and Code of Conduct for Aged Care to deliver person centred care to optimise positive outcomes.

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Clinical Care Partner the purpose of your role is:

To provide support that will:

  • Assist the client to retain/regain independence.
  • Encourage the client to do as much as possible for themselves.
  • Promote and monitor the client’s overall wellbeing.

Position Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for and assisting with:

  • Undertake clinical assessment and identify client clinical care needs.
  • Administering treatments subject to scope of practice.
  • Control and administration of medication prescribed by a medical practitioner, subject to legal restrictions on providing the medication.
  • Use client management system to record case notes and other significant events.
  • Provide personal care support with daily self-care activities.
  • Providing support to enable the client to participate in community activities or events of interest.
  • Provide assistance in the home, to allow the carer to have a break from their caring role.

To thrive in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse) with current registration.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.

Office Base Location

Based at the Australind Office but will be required to work from other sites.
