The practice of nursing by a registered nurse shall mean the assumption of responsibility and accountability for those nursing actions which include, but are not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a nursing diagnosis. Execution of the prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic treatment regiments, administering, delegating, and evaluating nursing activities.

Work Schedule: This is a casual/PRN position.
Scheduling:
1. A schedule of non-covered shifts is available in the Staffing Office for the current and upcoming scheduling period.
2. Employees are responsible for scheduling/working the required number of
hours/shifts to maintain their status and meet requirements.
3. Employees are required to schedule/work 24 hours each scheduling period per needs of acute nursing as arranged with the Staffing Coordinator. This includes 12 hour required weekend shifts.
4. Employees are required to schedule/work 12-hour weekends per scheduling
period per needs of acute nursing. Weekend hours for per diem requirements
will include all hours from 7 PM Friday until 7 AM Monday (this is for per diem
requirements only).
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Provides an accurate and thorough assessment of the patient/family to identify human responses to actual or potential health conditions.
Formulation of a nursing diagnosis to identify and plan for the needs of an individual, family, or group.
Implementation of a nursing treatment regimen to provide for the selection, performance and management of proper nursing practices.
Evaluation of the plan of care an treatment for all patients under his/her care to promote resolution of patient problems and positive patient outcomes.
Coordinates and supervises patient care to provide for the management of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Safety initiative - Complies with Methodist Fremont Health (MFH) safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), etc.

Education
Graduate from an accredited Diploma School of Nursing/College of Nursing with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience
Two to five years previous inpatient nursing experience preferred.
License/Certifications
Required:
Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Preferred:
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C.EFM) Certificate of Added Qualification from NCC within 1 year of eligibility.
Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
