About The Unit:
The Baptist Health Louisville Labor and Delivery Unit has 14 number of beds, 3 ORs, and an OB-ED, delivering over 3,000 babies each year. We work with four different private practice obstetric physician groups as well as the OB Hospitalist Group who runs the OBED and is in-house 24/7.
We have an active Maternal Fetal Medicine department collaborating in care of our high-risk maternal patients. Baptist Health Louisville has a level III NICU that takes babies down to 26 weeks gestation. Anesthesia in-house 24/7 as well. Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patient’s care. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and the delivery of quality patient care. The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes. The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
The Newborn Delivery Team is a team of Registered Nurses who attend each delivery in L&D to provide resuscitation support and primary newborn care during the time of delivery through the first two hours of life. When necessary, this team is supported by in-house neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and partners with the NICU nursing staff.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in nursing required.
Active Kentucky RN License required.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) required.
2 years previous experience in NICU, Newborn Nursery, or applicable Neonatal experience strongly preferred.
