About Our Labor & Delivery Unit
Mt. Auburn Hospital’s Labor & Delivery unit is a trusted leader in maternity care, supporting approximately 2,300 births each year. We are proud to maintain a lower‑than‑average Cesarean (C‑section) rate, reflecting our commitment to evidence‑based, patient‑centered care.
We are home to the largest midwifery practice in Eastern Massachusetts, where midwives work in close partnership with physicians, nurses, and the broader care team. Together, we support a full spectrum of pregnancy and birth experiences—from low‑intervention, family‑centered births to comprehensive care for complex and high‑risk pregnancies.
Our program has received multiple awards and distinctions for excellence in maternity care, underscoring our dedication to high‑quality prenatal care, safe deliveries, and positive birth experiences.
