Deliver expert critical care in a growing, high-acuity ICU/CCU at the forefront of integrated academic healthcare

Are you an experienced Intensive Care or Coronary Care Registered Nurse ready to take the next step in your career? Macquarie University Health is seeking two permanent full-time Registered Nurses to join our expanding Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit. This is an exciting time to be part of our team as our ICU continues to grow, with increasing patient volumes and an expanding range of complex procedures reflecting the trust placed in our unit by referring hospitals across the state.

Our 20-bed ICU/CCU provides specialist care across Adult Neurosurgery (including cerebrovascular, general neurosurgery, and spinal surgery), cardiothoracic surgery, ENT, plastics, head and neck surgery, and general surgery. As a recognised centre of excellence, the unit receives acute neurosurgical referrals from hospitals throughout New South Wales, and our trajectory of growth means you will be part of a team delivering care at the cutting edge of critical care nursing.

This is more than a clinical role, it is an opportunity to practise in an academically integrated environment where research, education and clinical excellence converge. You will be supported to develop your skills, contribute to evidence-based practice, and help shape the future of critical care delivery.

About the Role

As an experienced Registered Nurse within our ICU/CCU, you will:

  • Deliver expert, evidence-based clinical care to critically ill patients across a diverse range of surgical and medical specialities.

  • Manage complex patient presentations in a high-acuity environment with increasing procedural scope and patient load.

  • Actively participate in and facilitate ongoing learning and development within the unit.

  • Mentor and support junior nursing staff and students, fostering an inclusive, nurturing work environment.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient-centred, coordinated care.

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in research activities aligned with our academic mission.

  • Work autonomously and within a team to assess, plan and implement preventative and therapeutic care approaches.

These two permanent full-time positions are available for immediate start, offering you the chance to join a unit that is actively expanding its capacity and capabilities to meet growing demand.
