REGISTERED NURSE - ILORIN

Reports To: Chief Medical Director (CMD)
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate, competent, and responsible Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in Ilorin. The successful candidate will provide safe and effective nursing care, support patient admission and discharge processes, maintain accurate clinical records, monitor medical supplies and equipment, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong patient-care skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care & Nursing Services
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor patients' conditions and promptly report significant changes, emergencies, and incidents to the CMD or appropriate medical personnel.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document all interventions appropriately.
- Provide emotional support, counselling, comfort, and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Promote patient safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Support the effective involvement of patients' families in care and facilitate clear communication.
Admission & Discharge Management
- Assist with patient admission and discharge processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.
- Explain admission procedures, hospital guidelines, rules, and relevant information to patients and their families.
- Provide appropriate discharge instructions covering medications, follow-up appointments, lifestyle recommendations, and continuing care.
- Prepare accurate handover notes and communicate relevant patient information during shift changes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely nursing and patient records.
- Document patient assessments, nursing interventions, care plans, observations, and outcomes.
- Use Electronic Health Records (EHR) or other approved documentation systems where applicable.
- Prepare and submit required daily clinical, operational, and activity reports.
- Maintain proper records of purchases, payments, transactions, and items utilized or sold, where applicable.
- Ensure all monies received or collected are properly accounted for and retired to the CMD in accordance with organizational procedures.
Medical Supplies & Equipment
- Monitor the availability of drugs, consumables, and medical supplies and identify replenishment requirements.
- Ensure appropriate storage and organization of drugs and consumables across designated clinical areas.
- Ensure medical equipment is clean, functional, properly maintained, and stored in designated locations.
- Conduct routine checks of equipment and clinical areas to identify maintenance or supply requirements.
- Ensure equipment is handled in accordance with established hospital procedures and infection-control standards.
Infection Prevention & Facility Standards
- Promote and maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
- Ensure clinical areas, including wards, nurse stations, theatre, laboratory, pharmacy, toilets, and other designated areas, remain clean, safe, and orderly.
- Support proper cleaning and organization of the theatre and surrounding areas.
- Supervise supporting staff where required and ensure assigned cleaning and general support duties are properly carried out.
- Conduct periodic inspections to ensure clinical areas, equipment, and supplies meet required standards.
Teamwork & Professional Practice
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, laboratory personnel, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical and interdisciplinary meetings as required.
- Maintain professional conduct and uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Perform other nursing, clinical, administrative, or patient-care responsibilities reasonably assigned by the CMD or Management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc), Registered Nursing (RN), or an equivalent recognized nursing qualification.
- Must be duly registered and licensed to practice as a nurse in Nigeria.
- 1–3 years of relevant nursing experience, preferably within a hospital, clinic, medical centre, or similar healthcare environment.
- Sound knowledge of nursing procedures, patient care, medication administration, and basic emergency response.
- Good understanding of infection prevention, patient confidentiality, and healthcare safety standards.
- Ability to maintain accurate nursing and medical documentation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, families, doctors, nurses, and support staff.
- Compassionate, disciplined, responsible, and professional approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities.
