About the Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse II (Nurse Clinician II) to join the Oncology team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital for full-time day shifts In this role, you will provide professional nursing care in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act and Harris Health Nursing standards.

You will independently manage oncology patients with commonly occurring conditions, applying clinical standards, principles, and evidence-based practices. You will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and recognize when to escalate care to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in a specialized oncology setting.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Licensure/Certification
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or Red Cross
    • Additional certifications as required by the unit
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 1 year full-time RN experience OR completion of a Graduate Nurse (GN) Program
  • Communication Skills
    • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
    • Exceptional verbal communication
    • Strong written communication (correspondence and reports)
    • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Technical Skills
    • Basic computer proficiency
  • Knowledge/Skills
    • Mathematics and medical terminology
  • Work Schedule
    • Day shift
    • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call
