The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position performs duties associated with phone triage, symptom management, care coordination and may include direct in- clinic patient care and quality improvement activities. The incumbent assures completeness of ordered procedure and treatments, educates/instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensures medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Telephone nursing care involves the establishment of a nurse-patient relationship and is facilitated by the nursing process.
