Registered Nurse Grade 2 – Day Therapy

• Ongoing, part-time role – 64 hours per fortnight
• Parkville location, with multiple public transport options available
• $107,510 (prorated for part time) + salary packaging + super + five weeks annual leave

About the team

Day Therapy delivers specialised ambulatory cancer and supportive care services through a shared service model with the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital. The service comprises 85 treatment chairs across five clinical areas: Chemotherapy Day Unit, Medical Day Unit, Transfusion Lounge, Apheresis, and Clinical Trials Unit. The team works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to provide high-quality, patient-centred care to people undergoing cancer treatment and supportive therapies.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse in Day Therapy, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients receiving cancer treatment and supportive therapies. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes while maintaining professional, ethical and clinical standards. You will also support the development of colleagues through supervision and delegation to Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSONs).

A regular day will see you:

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients across Day Therapy services.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in partnership with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Safely administer and manage chemotherapy and other specialised treatments in accordance with clinical protocols.
• Support and supervise Enrolled Nurses and RUSONs while contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment.

About you

You are a compassionate and patient-focused Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. You'll bring with you:

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Minimum 12 months' recent acute medical oncology nursing experience.
• Demonstrated experience in chemotherapy medication management.
• Strong commitment to evidence-based practice, lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
• Postgraduate qualification in oncology or a related specialty area (desirable).

As a Registered Nurse at Peter Mac you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients.

The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organization, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health care professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSON).
