JOB SUMMARY

Provide patient-centered nursing care, with a focus on specialized assessment and monitoring of patients with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. Perform diagnostic and monitoring procedures related to epilepsy care and provide support and education to patients and families throughout their care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TASK GROUPS

• Provide specialized nursing assessment, monitoring, and care for adult and pediatric patients with epilepsy, seizures, and other neurological conditions.
• Perform electroencephalograms (EEG), Long-Term Monitoring, and other diagnostic monitoring procedures as applicable.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to seizure activity and acute changes in patients’ neurological status.
• Administer prescribed medications and SPECT dye to patients undergoing EEG and related diagnostic procedures, and monitor patient response.
• Provide nursing care, education, and support to patients and families throughout admission and diagnostic procedures.
• Document assessments, interventions, procedures, and relevant clinical information in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, coordinated, and quality patient care.

KNOWLEDGE / KNOW-HOW

Knowledge

Knowledge of epilepsy and seizure disorders, neurological assessment and monitoring, seizure recognition and management, and related patient and family education.

Knowledge of and adherence to basic principles of safety procedures in health care settings.

Education:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Nursing Colloquium, Nursing License from the Ministry of Public Health, and Registered in the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.

Experience:

Minimum Experience: 3–5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse at AUBMC, including 2 years of clinical experience in neurology and/or caring for patients with seizure disorders.

Languages:

Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET >/= 500).

Computer Skills:

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
