
The Center for Pain Medicine is a high-volume specialty clinic with multiple satellite clinics that focuses on a variety of chronic pain diagnoses. The Center for Pain Medicine provides holistic care to include procedural intervention, infusions, psychology services and medication management. The Center for Pain Medicine also collaborates with the department of Psychiatry to provide infusion therapy for a select group of patients.
The clinical nurse provides care for patients with multiple or complex pain management needs. They provide advanced clinical skills in assessing, treating, and evaluating patients with chronic pain. They facilitate an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to the treatment of patients and will assist with patient inquiries in person, via phone, and electronic health record messaging. The clinical nurse provides emotional and psychological support to patients with chronic pain and coordinates clinical care amongst multiple disciplines to support patients’ needs.
The clinical nurse is responsible for assisting the faculty, fellows, and residents in procedure rooms by circulating, administering procedural moderate sedation, and coordinating the care of patients throughout the procedural period (before, during and after each procedure). The nurse will be responsible for initiating and monitoring patients undergoing infusion treatments at the Center for Pain Medicine.
•Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care
•Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required
•Performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision
•Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team

Maintain Apex training and Utilize Electronic Health Record (APEX) for documentation within the scope of practice of an RN.
Open and respond to APEX inbox to include staff messages, patient advice, telephone encounters, media manager and others as needed
Demonstrate the ability to communicate with patients both by telephone, in person and in writing using MyChart in clear, easy to understand and grammatically correct language as an essential function of their job.This includes being able to write clinical instructions that may not be possible using APeX smart phrases and other technical shortcuts.
Documents telephone encounter messages and follows-up with patient and clinic team as needed
