Macquarie University Hospital is launching Ward 4 East, a purpose-built Step-Down Cardiology and Angiography Day Recovery Unit, and we are looking for four passionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join this exciting new team on a permanent full-time basis

About the Role
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of Ward 4 East, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to a complex cardiac patient cohort requiring close haemodynamic and telemetry monitoring following advanced cardiac procedures and interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering safe, patient-centred nursing care to cardiology patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring across the step-down ward and Angiography Stage 2 Recovery area.
Monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, escalating clinical deterioration appropriately.
Managing post-procedural care for patients recovering from electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, pacemaker and ICD insertions, coronary angiography, PCI, and complex interventional cardiology procedures.
Providing Stage 2 recovery nursing care following angiography and cardiac interventions.
Administering medications, including cardiac infusions, according to clinical guidelines.
Operating and managing bedside cardiac monitoring equipment and telemetry systems.
Collaborating effectively with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, allied health professionals, and nursing colleagues in multidisciplinary ward rounds and discharge planning.
Contributing to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance, and patient safety initiatives.

About You
You are a dedicated and clinically skilled Registered Nurse with a strong cardiology background. You bring confidence in cardiac rhythm interpretation, acute post-procedural care, and haemodynamic monitoring, and you are excited by the opportunity to help establish a new specialist unit from inception.
Selection Criteria
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated recent experience in a cardiology nursing environment, including caring for monitored cardiac patients.
Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring.
Experience in acute care nursing and post-procedural recovery, ideally within coronary care, electrophysiology, or interventional cardiology settings.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice in cardiac nursing.
