• Classification: RN Year 4 to RN Year 8 (ZU6 to ZU11) - $ 46.68 to $ 54.40 per hour + applicable casual loading

Where You’ll Work

As part of the Casual Nurse Bank (and depending on your skills), you’ll rotate through highly specialised areas, including:

• Inpatient Haematology, Medical and Surgical Oncology
• Short Stay Unit
• Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) – caring for patients with complex needs, including advanced monitoring, symptom management and therapies such as inotropic support
• Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU)
• Radiotherapy
• Cancer Imaging and Outpatient Clinics

Whether your focus is inpatient or ambulatory care, this role offers diverse exposure and opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills in oncology nursing.

What You’ll Bring

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in acute inpatient or ambulatory care
• Confidence in clinical assessment, organisation and decision-making
• Experience caring for complex or acutely unwell patients
• Chemotherapy skills and ambulatory oncology experience highly regarded
• Competence with electronic medical records and digital clinical systems
• Commitment to safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care
• Up-to-date immunisation status

Desirable:

• Oncology, haematology or surgical nursing experience
• Chemotherapy certification or infusion/ambulatory experience
• Postgraduate qualifications in Oncology or related specialty
• Experience in high acuity or enhanced care environments

Minimum Requirements

• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience (Grade 2 Year 4 or above).
• Availability to work at least 2-3 days per week.

Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse at Peter Mac you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients.

The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organization, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health care professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSON).

The Nurse Bank role is a flexible role that sees the staff member working across multiple departments within Peter Mac at Parkville or our radiotherapy sites at Box Hill or Moorabbin.

Allocation of shifts to Nurse bank staff will be managed by the Peter Mac Nursing Workforce Unit. Shifts will be allocated according to organisational need based on staff requirements, submitted availabilities and confirmation of booking.
