Dubbo | Multiple Positions Available | Flexible Employment Arrangements

Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is seeking passionate and experienced Registered Nurses and/or Midwives to join our Miyagan Connections team in Dubbo.

We are recruiting for multiple positions and are open to flexible employment arrangements for the right applicants, with both part-time and increased hours considered based on individual experience, qualifications, availability and program requirements.

About Miyagan Connections

Miyagan Connections provides culturally safe, relationship-based support to eligible women and their families through a sustained home visiting model.

Working in partnership with Cultural Support Workers, our Registered Nurses and Midwives develop strong therapeutic relationships with families, providing comprehensive support from pregnancy through to the child’s second birthday or planned graduation from the program.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife within Miyagan Connections, you will:

  • Provide culturally safe and responsive nursing and/or midwifery care within a sustained home visiting model.
  • Work in partnership with Cultural Support Workers to support women and families to identify and achieve their goals.
  • Build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
  • Apply your maternal, child and family health knowledge and skills to support families throughout pregnancy and early childhood.
  • Develop professional relationships and referral pathways to support coordinated, multidisciplinary care.
  • Participate in clinical, cultural and reflective supervision.
  • Contribute to team meetings, Continuous Quality Improvement activities and community engagement.
  • Participate in required education, training and professional development.

About You

We are looking for Registered Nurses and/or Midwives who have a genuine interest in working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife
  • Relevant qualifications in Nursing and/or Midwifery.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in maternal, child and family health.
  • Relevant post-registration clinical experience in midwifery and/or maternal, child and family health.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective and culturally safe relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, families and colleagues.
  • An understanding of sustained home visiting and early intervention in supporting children and families.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to undertake required training and professional development.

Qualifications & Professional Development

A postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing will be highly regarded.

We also encourage applications from Registered Nurses and Midwives with relevant maternal, child and family health experience who are willing to undertake further postgraduate study, with organisational support available for suitable applicants.

Additional qualifications or experience in Mental Health, Public Health, Health Promotion, motivational interviewing, primary health care or the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector will also be highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to hold:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current Driver’s Licence valid in Australia.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Compliance with applicable NSW Health occupational assessment, screening and vaccination requirements for Category A staff.
