Job Description

Overview

The Registered Nurse requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process in the respective departments in which assigned. The RN must collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members and students.

Special Instructions

This position is for an RN to support provider productivity, improve patient flow, and strengthen care coordination. This role will assist with direct patient care, chart preparation, patient navigation, and timely patient follow-up.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient assessments; develops, implements, evaluates, and revises plans of care utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Performs nursing functions authorized by the Board of Nursing and in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and nationally accepted nursing standards.
  • Provides patient care, counseling, health teaching, and health promotion utilizing Teach Back methodology to ensure patient understanding.
  • Administers medications, intravenous therapy, and treatments as prescribed by a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP).
  • Supervises, delegates, and follows up on activities related to nursing care performed by other personnel.
  • Mentors and precepts students and assists with orientation of new staff as assigned.
  • Reports pertinent patient and operational information through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Participates in team activities, committees, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers, and self.
  • Participates in discharge planning and transition of care activities, identifying and addressing patient needs.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and escalates patient-related concerns in a timely manner.
  • Documents patient assessments, interventions, and pertinent findings accurately and promptly in the medical record.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and functions as an active member of the healthcare team.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, active listening, compassion, and empathy in interactions with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Utilizes SBAR communication techniques and performs bedside shift reporting utilizing SBAR when appropriate.
  • Functions as a positive role model and adheres to professional standards of conduct.
  • Maintains patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
  • De-Escalation Training required within six (6) months of hire
