About the role:

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team at Melville Cares. This is a full-time position; however, part-time arrangements of three to four days per week will be considered for the right candidate. In this role, you will provide high-quality clinical care, demonstrate a solid understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards, and offer clinical guidance and advice to the team. You will also be responsible for fostering positive relationships with staff, clients, and families. Additionally, you should possess the ability to provide choice, empathy, dignity, and respect to clients, ensuring their quality of life and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and provide personalised care recommendations.
  • Administer nursing services such as wound care, catheter care, and medication administration.
  • Offer clinical resources and consultation as needed.
  • Educate clients and families on clinical risk management and care strategies.
  • Make referrals to medical professionals based on assessed needs.
  • Liaise with Medical teams for follow-ups.
  • Recommend equipment for daily living improvement.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with clients, families, Coordinators, and Community Workers.
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based, and high-quality clinical care according to organisational policies and guidelines.
  • Meet standards of Registered Nurse Practice, Safety, and Aged Care Quality.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registration with the AHPRA;
  • 2+ years of working experience as RN in Australia;
  • Advanced Clinical assessment and clinical risk management skills
  • Ability to deliver the high level of holistic clinical care and service;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders including team members, clients and family members;
  • Ability to make clinical judgement, use initiative and common sense when performing client services alone;
  • Strong time management skills;
  • Compassion and enthusiasm, with a friendly approach;
  • Commitment to the values of Melville Cares;
  • A current driver’s licence;
  • National Police Clearance no older than three months;

Desirable clinical experience

  • Nursing experience in aged care, including residential or community care.
  • Advanced wound care and catheter care knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge and experience in Dementia care.
