Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME

Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12-Hour Shifts

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) within the NICU. Provides direct patient care and is accountable for assigned neonates in a high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to critically ill and premature neonates
  • Perform continuous monitoring and assess neonatal condition and response to treatment
  • Support thermoregulation, respiratory support, and developmental care
  • Communicate clinical changes, diagnostic results, and symptomatology to physicians
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and neonatal treatments
  • Educate and support parents/families on newborn care and NICU processes
  • Guide and support nursing personnel to maintain standards of care
  • Respond rapidly to changes in condition and neonatal emergencies
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN license

2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred 3. BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current 4. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current 5. Basic Fetal Monitoring upon hire within 60 days of hire and maintain current

6. Minimum of 2 years prior RN experience
