Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)? Join our dedicated team of nurses at HeartShare Human Services of New York, where you will play a vital role in enhancing the health and quality of life for the individuals we serve. We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for full-time, part-time, and on-call positions.

As an RN, you will:

  • Provide specialized nursing care and support to individuals with IDD, promoting their independence and addressing their unique healthcare needs.
  • Advocate for the healthcare needs and rights of individuals, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
  • Train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) in nursing tasks and supervise their performance.
  • Oversee health services for individuals in residential settings and ensure coordination with medical and clinical teams.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including nursing assessments, post-ER visit follow-ups, and medication management.
  • Collaborate with medical specialists and clinical staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Conduct medication inventory, certify AMAP staff, and ensure compliance with OPWDD health training requirements.
  • Participate in program planning and attend nursing department meetings.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and provide individualized nursing interventions.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
  • At least one year of nursing experience, with a strong preference for experience working with individuals with IDD.
  • American Heart Association issued Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with a commitment to promoting the health and rights of individuals with IDD.
