Essential Duties:
1.Mentor school personnel regardinghealth relatedissues.
2.Provideservicestostudentswith disabilitiesasneeded.
3.Improvehealth-related instruction throughclassroomvisitation,observation,anddemonstrationteaching.
4.Exhibitcommunication skillsandinterpersonalskillssufficienttoexchangeand conveytechnical medical information to school personnel.
5.Collect informationabout the health and developmental statusofstudentswith disabilitiesin asystematicand continuous manner.
6.Maintain health recordsand log health servicesrenderedforstudents with disabilities.Prepare and submit reportsas needed.
7.Collaborate with physicians’ officesto obtain ordersand informationfor health-relatedprocedurestobe providedat school.
8.Maintainconfidentialityof individualstudent health status, and participate in IEPmeetingsas needed.
9.Maintain acomprehensivehealth plan which meetsthe existingneedsand identifiesfuture needsofstudents withdisabilities.
10.Assistinplanningand organizingstaff developmentregardinghealth-relatedissues.
11.Provide specializedtraining and support to school personnel for necessaryhealth-relatedproceduresin orderto allowspecialeducation studentsaccess tothe learningenvironment.
12.Act asaliaisonbetween parents,physicians,and the school.
13.Performother dutiesand responsibilitiesasassignedbyappropriate administrator.
Qualifications:
1.MaintaincurrentLPN orRNlicensureintheState of Georgia.
2.Maintaincardiopulmonaryresuscitation(CPR)andFirst Aid certification.
3.Minimumofthree yearsnursingexperience, preferred.
4.Aproven recordofestablishingrapportandworkingwellwithprofessionalpersonnelatalllevelsofpublic education; studentsandparents aswellaswithrelated professional organizations.
5.Exceptionalintegrity,commitmenttoconfidentiality,excellentcharacter,andstrong professional reputation.
6.Abilitytoabide bytheGeorgia ProfessionalStandardsCode ofEthicsfor Educators.
7.Must beregularly,predictably,andreliablyat work.
8.Abilityto bepresent atthephysical worksite.
9.Mustperformtasks involvingprolongedperiods ofstanding,walking,and sitting.
10.Mustperformroutinephysicalactivitiessuch asbendingandlifting/pushing/pullingupto50 pounds.
11.Mustbeable toproperlyandconsistentlysupervisestudents,particularlyduring emergency situations.
