Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)
Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Clinical Practice Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge.
Applicants without previous Operating Room training/experience must successfully complete the AORN Periop 101 on-line course* within three months of the date of employment. Extensions to complete the course may be granted up to six (6) months in special circumstances.
*The WRHA Surgery Program offers basic orientation through the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Periop 101 Didactic course to successful applicants with no previous perioperative experience. This is an on-line, evidence-based, accredited course for new operating room nurses to learn the basic, core principles of practice. The successful candidate may be required to purchase the required textbook and reading material for this orientation course. Successful completion of the course within three months of their start date (prior to the end of their probationary period where applicable) is a requirement.
**NOTE: Successful completion of the WCCNEP EKG Course must be obtained when the opportunity to take the course is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.
**NOTE: Adult Conscious Sedation/Procedural Sedation Education validation must be obtained when the opportunity is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.
Nurses currently working on the Unit will be deemed qualified.
